Claims Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

  • TEAM MANAGEMENT
    Lead, mentor and support claims assessors, monitor workflow and allocate cases, set targets and conduct performance reviews, and promote accountability and continuous learning
  • OPERATIONAL OVERSIGHT
    Ensure an efficient end-to-end claims process, review and approve claims within authority limits, identify training needs, and support complex or escalated claims
  • TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
    Maintain strong knowledge of group risk benefits and guide the interpretation of policy terms and claim decisions
  • STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
    Act as an escalation point for clients and intermediaries, ensure clear and professional communication, and resolve complaints efficiently
  • PROCESS & COMPLIANCE
    Ensure adherence to TCF, POPIA and FAIS, maintain audit readiness, and identify inefficiencies to drive improvements

  • Strong administration, organisation and communication skills
  • Assertive with professional independence
  • Leadership and people management with ability to handle pressure
  • Extensive knowledge of Group Risk, Employee Benefits and Financial Services industry

Education/Qualification requirements:

    • Matric
    • Relevant business qualification or equivalent experience
    • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in Group Risk Claims
    • At least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role (preferably within life insurance or risk benefits)
