Executive Head – Finance
A seasoned finance leader with extensive experience across banking and insurance, Kavila Govender is the Executive Head: Finance at Jigsaw Financial Services. She provides both operational and strategic oversight of the finance function across the Jigsaw Group, ensuring that all financial activities are aligned with the organisation’s broader objectives. In her role, Kavila oversees core financial operations including reporting, compliance and analytics, while partnering closely with the Group CFO to support strategic decision-making and leadership.
With over 30 years of experience in finance, including 25 years within financial services, Kavila brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to her role. She began her career at Nedbank, where she held various positions within the finance team, developing strong expertise in financial accounting and navigating complex regulatory environments. She later joined Alexander Forbes, where she deepened her understanding of the employee benefits industry while strengthening her financial management and leadership capabilities.
Her career continued at Hollard, where she worked across multiple divisions, gaining diverse exposure and a comprehensive understanding of both life and short-term insurance. This experience reinforced her belief that finance plays a critical role as a strategic enabler within an organisation. In addition, Kavila has spent time consulting to small and medium enterprises, supporting them in building robust financial functions and navigating tax and compliance requirements, further broadening her perspective across different business environments.
Kavila is known for her strong technical expertise as well as her passion for strategic leadership. She is committed to partnering with business leaders to drive long-term value, building and mentoring high-performing finance teams and fostering meaningful cross-functional collaboration. Ethical leadership remains a cornerstone of her approach, guiding both her decision-making and leadership style.
She is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Life Coach, combining technical excellence with a people-focused approach to leadership.
Outside of work, Kavila enjoys reading and watching East Asian dramas. She has also recently taken up Kendo, a Japanese martial art that reflects her appreciation for discipline, structure and continuous improvement.
