Legal & Compliance Assistant
With a strong legal foundation and a passion for regulatory excellence, Samkelisiwe Ngubane is a Legal and Compliance Assistant at Jigsaw Financial Services. She plays a key role in ensuring that the organisation operates within the framework of applicable laws and regulatory standards. Her responsibilities include developing and maintaining internal policies, conducting ongoing compliance monitoring and supporting FICA and AML processes to uphold sound governance and risk management practices.
Samkelisiwe’s career reflects broad exposure across industries including mining and energy, property management, legal insurance and advisory services. She began her professional journey at Pula Nala Mining and Energy as a Legal Administrative Assistant, where she supported executive leadership and managed company secretarial filings. She later joined the Johannesburg Housing Company as an HR and Compliance Administrator, performing compliance checks, assisting with audits, maintaining statutory registers and supporting FICA processes.
She went on to complete her articles at SB Ngento Attorneys, gaining valuable experience in litigation, drafting legal documents and managing court procedures. Her experience also includes working at LegalWise, where she provided legal research and client advisory support, and serving as a Project Compliance Officer at Africore Advisory Services. In that capacity, she analysed legislation, drafted commercial agreements, prepared compliance reports and contributed to governance and risk management initiatives.
Samkelisiwe holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Postgraduate Certificate in Compliance Management from the University of Johannesburg and Practical Legal Training from the School of Legal Practice. She is currently completing her Master of Laws in International Economic Law through the University of South Africa, further strengthening her expertise in regulatory and cross-border legal frameworks. In addition, she has completed several specialised short courses in FICA, AML and KYC compliance.
Beyond her professional commitments, Samkelisiwe enjoys experimenting in the kitchen with new baking recipes and relaxing with stand up comedy. She has a particular appreciation for sharp, culturally insightful humour and values time spent laughing and recharging outside of work.
